Tree Planting

Why we plant trees?

Part of our agenda is to be conscious about our carbon footprint and make mindful choices.
If it's by buying locally, avoiding single use plastic, using land transportation and supporting eco friendly businesses.
Each year we offset our yearly carbon emissions by donating and planting trees with the community in the country that we travel.

Our goal is to raise awareness about climate change and the importance of trees in our lives.

Our projects so far...

Adopting Trees
In the last years, we haven’t had the chance to join a tree planting event in person. Instead, we chose another way: adopting a tree.

In 2022, while visiting the South Island of New Zealand, we found an amazing foundation that helps protect and restore the native taonga species through managed conservation projects and education. They also have a tree nursery, and you can offset your carbon footprint by purchasing a tree to plant in the park.
If you want to support their mission, visit their website: kiwibird.co.nz/.

In 2024, we chose to adopt trees in our home country, Israel. We supported local efforts to restore forests and care for the land. KKL-JNF has been leading afforestation and environmental projects in Israel for over 120 years, planting millions of trees, creating green spaces, and protecting natural ecosystems.

If you are looking for a way to make an impact but can’t find an event near you, you can always adopt a tree, too. It’s a simple step, yet it grows into something lasting and still leaves an impact.

Easter Island

In 2020, we visited one of the most beautiful and remote places on earth, Easter Island.
One of the problems of the island is deforestation and soil erosion.
We joined Stefy, who works at the reforestation project; She explained us about the challenges the island is facing and the efforts to revive the endemic plants.
We planted trees with local kids and explained the importance of planting native species.

If you want to volunteer in this project contact Stefy.

Argentina

In 2019, we collaborated with the local municipality of Bariloche and other environmental organization. Together with all of the organizations and with the locals, we planted around 40 native trees in one of the least shady neighborhoods in the city.

circuito verde is one of the environmental organizations that conduct workshops, events and tree plantations. They will be happy to host volunteers in their activities.
You also can donate trees and offset your carbon via their website.

Nepal

In 2018, after finishing our permaculture course in HASERA farm in Nepal, we donated about 400 trees together with all of our course members.
The trees were planted in the forest, close to farm with the help of Govinda sharma( the founder of HASERA) and the local kids.

HASERA is a certified organic farm and Permaculture Learning Center dedicated to the promotion of Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable Development and Permaculture in Nepal and abroad. They conduct training courses on various aspects of organic agriculture and Permaculture and host volunteers/travellers from all over the world.

The benefits of trees

One tree..

  • Helps to reduce the temperature around it, in the summer, up to four degrees!

  • Absorbs 20 kilos of dust and 80 kilos of pollutants which contain toxic metals such as mercury, lithium and lead ,each year.

  • Cleans, filters and purifies 100,000 cubic meters of polluted air.

  • Generates 700 kg of oxygen and absorbs 20 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

  • One tree near the house is similar to an acoustic wall - it significantly helps with noise reduction.

  • Planting trees helps to prevent soil erosion, desertification and accumulates water in the ground.
